Leadership of Energy and Environmental Design
The LEED rating system for environmentally sustainable construction was created to encourage and accelerate the worldwide adoption of urban spaces and buildings designed, built and managed to create sustainable development from economic, environmental and social standpoints. It is an independent certification promoted by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), a world leader in promotion, diffusion and research in terms of sustainable real estate development.
The LEED method for certification of the buiding-system is based on six key points:
1. Regeneration of degraded areas
2. Water efficiency
3. Energy savings
4. Selection of materials
5. Indoor environmental quality
